Zeke, who is almost two now, has been having a blast this summer, spending his days on a horse farm.
One of his favorite things to do is ride on Bronco, his miniature horse. Zeke has been riding Bronco since he was nine months old. But over this summer he has really developed his position in the saddle as he’s now tall enough to get his legs around the saddle better. His balance has also improved and he he quite comfortable walking and trotting on Bronco (with a spotter nearby of course).
It’s been so wonderful to share our passion with Zeke as he grows and to watch the bond he has developed with Bronco. Zeke gets so excited when Bronco is around. He is learning how to brush Bronco, how to pick his feet, and how to lead Bronco.
Sometimes he also gets to ride one of the big horses! Just ask him if he wants to ride and he’ll come running! He absolutely loves being around the horses.
There’s a lot of work to be done on the farm in summer like dragging the arenas. Zeke spends a lot of time helping Grandma Sharon with the barn chores. His favorite chores are driving in the tractor and helping to feed the horses.
It’s not all work though. There’s time for fun too. Last week we went over to the County Fair. Zeke is still too young to go on the rides but he had fun walking around, seeing all of the activity, and petting all of the animals. He really likes the goats and he was fascinated by the baby chicks. He also got to try sitting in the driver’s seat of a tractor. He’ll have to grow into that one!
The Fair is such a great event for our community and we love being able to support the kids that work so hard to be there.
One of Zeke’s favorite toys lately is his ride on tractor. We rigged up a trailer for him and he uses it to collect rocks, brushes, and whatever else he can find.
It’s been a great summer so far. We are creating some amazing memories and are looking forward to many more summer days on the farm.
Beautiful smiles!
